I have no idea what this circlejerk is that the English dub is better. The original Japanese voice cast is excellent. Sure, the dub is good, but why settle for it if you can have the original audio, the voices that were intended? They were cast for the roles by the creators for Pete's sake.

I always watch the original audio, whether or not it's a foreign film or an anime. Another comment that I always hear is 'Even the creator said he preferred the dub!' None of the creators never said that, and it's considered untrue. There is no source of any kind of him saying that. That is made up. I was reading a forum a while back where people were trying to prove that he did indeed say that, but they couldn't. Because he never did say that.
So far as I know, it's the fandom's equivalent to an old wive's tale. Sure, the dub is great, but I don't understand why you would watch it instead of the original voices unless you're ten years old. Some say that Bebop is a show that is artistically meant to be expressed in English, but that doesn't make any sense either. Should Kill Bill be watched with a Japanese dub then? I don't understand why it matters that much to be honest. The English dub is amazing, one of the best I've seen out there. A lot of people on this sub are English speakers, including myself.

Therefore, I'm more inclined to watch it in English. I can understand it, it sounds better to me, the show is very Western inspired and I don't have to read the subtitles I can just absorb the visuals.
Just because it was the original audio, doesn't make it great either. There has been heaps of anime where the Japanese cast has been sub par and its hard to listen to. Hell, even heaps of people that hate on dubs probably can't even tell whether the original audio is good since it isn't their natural dialect, and wouldn't be able to pick up on the intricacies of the language. So yeah, if an anime has a good English audio, I'm going to watch it.
Cowboy Bebop's strength is in its story, animation and characters, and I can live with really good voice actors speaking the language I speak, to make it an even better experience for myself. This topic is totally subjective anyway, so I don't know why it even matters that much. Watch what you want to watch, and don't belittle someone by calling them a ten year old because they don't want to watch an animation with half their attention focused on the bottom tenth of the screen. To be honest, I legit hate hearing Steve Blum everywhere. It bothers me that I actually can't get away without hearing his voice. It doesn't ruin my experience but I'm simply not interested.
